‘The Bookie & The Bruiser’: Patrick Schwarzenegger To Play Twins In S. Craig Zahler ’50s-Set Crime Pic

S. Craig Zahler is linking back up with his actor muse Vince Vaughn for a third film together (the two previously working together on “Brawl In Cell Block 99” and “Dragged Across Concrete“) with “The Bookie & The Bruiser,” which also sees British actor Theo James (“The Gentlemen”) in the main cast, with another neat addition to just being revealed.

The White Lotus” Season 3 breakout cast member Patrick Schwarzenegger has taken a juicy part in the period crime thriller, as Deadline reports he’ll be playing twins in the movie.

“Set in 1959 New York City and features a pensive, Jewish fellow named Rivner (James) and an oversized Italian American tough named Boscolo (Vaughn). Having served in World War II, the two return as changed men, no longer fitting into their old lives. Unwilling to take orders or play by the rules of polite society, the two partner up as a bookmaker and his enforcer and run an illicit gambling operation that proves highly profitable — but dangerous. Their operation thrives until they’re caught in a violent power struggle between the Mafia and an Irish gang, forcing them into a violent fight for survival.”

Schwarzenegger, who had been campaigning to play Patrick Bateman in Lionsgate‘s remake of “American Psycho,” is said to be playing twin brothers named Augie and Bernard, whose actions set some of the events into play. His other projects on the horizon include “Love of Your Life” and “Bunker.”

Anthony Katagas (“12 Years A Slave,” “Ad Astra”) produces “The Bookie & The Bruiser” for Keep Your Head Productions alongside Dave Caplan (“Longlegs,” “The Monkey”), Dan Bekerman, and Vaughn. Meanwhile, C2 Motion Picture Group is fully financing the project with UTA Independent Film Group and Range Select, who are tackling the financing and are representing the North American rights. Last but not least, Anton is representing global sales at the Cannes Film Market happening very soon.

Zahler, a veteran screenwriter, has been a busy guy recently, as he’s also behind scripts for the hostage crisis thriller “Empire City” starring Gerard Butler and Hayley Atwell, alongside the gestating Western flick ‘The Brigands Of Rattlecreek‘ from “No Other Choice” director Park Chan-wook (boasts an impressive lineup of Hollywood heavyweights such as Matthew McConaughey, Austin Butler, and Pedro Pascal).
