There was a bit of a surprise when the “Jack Ryan” series was going to be given the feature film treatment with Andrew Bernstein directing “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War.” Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios have dropped a teaser trailer for the R-rated spy pic as it is now set to arrive on May 20.
John Krasinski, of course, leads a cast reprising his role of the CIA analyst Dr. Jack Ryan, which also consists of Wendell Pierce, Michael Kelly, Max Beesley, JJ Feild, Douglas Hodge, Betty Gabriel, and Sienna Miller.

The actor isn’t just showcasing his action chops in front of the screen, as Krasinski co-wrote the script for “Jack Ryan: Ghost War” with series writer Aaron Rabin (“Nobody 2”) and crafted the action flick’s story alongside Noah Oppenheim (“A House of Dynamite”) based on characters created by prolific author Tom Clancy.
An official logline for the new spy movie, courtesy of Prime:
In this new film, Jack Ryan is reluctantly thrust back into the world of espionage when an international covert mission unravels a deadly conspiracy, forcing him to confront a rogue black-ops unit, and the clock is ticking. Operating in real time with lives on the line and the threat escalating at every turn, Jack reunites with battle-tested CIA operative Mike November (Michael Kelly) and former CIA boss James Greer (Wendell Pierce), their combined experience the only edge they have against an enemy who knows their every move. Backed by an unlikely new partner – razor-sharp MI6 officer Emma Marlowe (Sienna Miller) – Jack and the team navigate a treacherous web of betrayal, facing a past they thought was long put to rest – making this the most personal, high-stakes mission any of them have ever faced.
Allyson Seeger, Krasinski, and Andrew Form lead a producing team that features John J. Kelly, Alexa Ginsburg, Carlton Cuse, and Clancy serving as executive producers as well.
We’re still waiting to learn if we’ll see Krasinski’s Jack Ryan and recent Best Actor Oscar winner Michael B. Jordan‘s John Clark will ultimately cross paths as Chad Stahelski (“John Wick,” “Highlander”) is attached to helm “Rainbow Six,” a sequel to “Without Remorse” (set directly in Clancy’s “Jack Ryan” universe).
You can check out that neat teaser trailer for “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War” below, as that new streaming movie debuts in May. How the busy Krasinski has the energy for all his projects is very inspirational as he’s just about to begin filming Paramount‘s “A Quiet Place Part III.”
