We’ve been very excited to see how Netflix is going to handle their series take on the kidnapping thriller “Man on Fire,” and we finally have some early teaser footage before it arrives late next month.

Emmy-winning actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II of HBO‘s acclaimed “Watchmen” and Marvel Television‘s “Wonder Man” is set in the role of former special forces badass turned bodyguard John Creasy, who goes on the warpath when his young client is abducted by criminals. In this version, hailing from showrunner Kyle Killen (“Halo,” “Awake”), we’ll see the location changed to Brazil with a supporting cast that includes Billie Boullet, Bobby Cannavale, Alice Braga, Scoot McNairy, and Paul Ben-Victor.

The series’ official synopsis via Netflix:

Based on A.J. Quinnell’s book series, “Man on Fire” tells the story of John Creasy. Once a high-functioning and skilled Special Forces Mercenary, known for surviving even the most desolate of situations, Creasy is now plagued with intense PTSD. Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path to redemption. But before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever.

Directors tackling “Man on Fire” are Steven Caple Jr. (“Creed II”) handling the first two episodes, Vicente Amorim, Clare Kilner, and Michael Cuesta.

This isn’t the first remake of the source material, as Scott Glenn previously played in the Italian-set original from 1987 (co-starring a young Joe Pesci), before the Denzel Washington version set in Mexico City that was helmed by Tony Scott.

The team of executive producers put together for the action-focused show will consist of Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Natalie Lehmann for New Regency Productions. Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Tracey Cook for Chernin Entertainment. Killen and Scott Pennington for Chapter Eleven. Other includes Caple Jr., Ed McDonnell, Michael Polaire, and Abdul-Mateen II alongside Stacy Perskie, who will executive produce for RedRum.
