With Marvel‘s meta Hollywood-set series “Wonder Man” starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams (goes from villain to longtime member of The Avengers in the comics) and Ben Kingsley reprising Trevor Slattery (introduced in “Iron Man 3” as the fake version of The Mandarin and returning as Wenwu’s prisoner in “Shang-Chi” after bring sprung from jail in a post-credit scene) on deck this month, there are some brief teases of what could be next from Marvel Television and Marvel Animation executive Brad Winderbaum as he spoke with Marvel’s official podcast for their very first episode of 2026.
We know that things are coming in the very near future like Season 2 of “Daredevil: Born Again” (with Kristen Ritter‘s Jessica Jones making her big official MCU debut after the Netflix shows), Season 2 of the hit animated revivial “X-Men ’97,” and longtime MCU actor Paul Bettany is back for “VisionQuest” that sees James Spader reprising the Ultron role, the belivant and dangerous AI creation from the second “Avengers” film, as Winderbaum teases that new show’s father/son dynamic while chatting about upcoming TV projects.

“Can a man who had an abusive father be a good father himself? It gets very emotional at times, and it’s exciting. You see Vision kicking ass, and you get all that Marvel fun and adventure, [but] it’s all done with a backdrop of real human stakes and emotion,” Winderbaum said of “VisionQuest.”
Winderbaum also mentioned the studio is developing all sorts of things, including a new “Zombie” story, assumed to be connected to the animation side of things.
“I certainly hope so, I’ll tell you this…we’re developing a few things right now behind the scenes. Obviously, nothing has been greenlit yet, but we are actively developing the next ‘Zombie’ story. So, fingers crossed! It’s not official, but Brian’s back in the house, and we’re starting to talk about ideas. The little bit I’ve heard so far is incredible.”
It’s still unclear whether they’ll ever return their attention to the cosmic hero “Nova” (originally planned as a series from showrunner Ed Bernero, being compared to “Star Trek” or “Battlestar Galactica” in scope), as Richard Rider was expected to attempt to reform the Nova Corps (introduced in “The Guardians of the Galaxy“) after Thanos wiped them off the map on Xandar in an off-screen sequence, that was until the project hit the pause button.
