‘Forbidden Fruits’ Trailer: Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung, Victoria Predretti & Alexandra Shipp Topline Diablo Cody-Produced Witchy Cult Flick

IFC and Shudder are gearing up for the release of “Forbidden Fruits” in 2026, as the witchy cult feature film hails from director Meredith Alloway, who co-wrote the script alongside Lily Houghton. They’ve unveiled a first-look trailer, with Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (“Juno“) listed as one of the film’s producers. Cody is no stranger to high-concept, female-centric horror projects, having written “Jennifer’s Body” (a sequel is reportedly in development stages) and “Lisa Frankenstein.”

Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung, Victoria Pedretti, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Chamberlain, and Gabrielle Union (“The Inspection,” “Rif Raff”) lead the film’s impressive cast that features plenty of on-the-rise talent.

A logline for the new pic via IFC:

Free Eden employee Apple secretly runs a witchy femme cult in the basement of the mall store after hours – with fellow fruits Cherry and Fig, but when new hire Pumpkin challenges their performative sisterhood, the women are forced to face their own poisons or succumb to a bloody fate.

Other producers involved in “Forbidden Fruits” besides Cody include Mason Novick, Trent Hubbard, and Mary Anne Waterhouse.

An interesting tidbit about Shipp, who many will remember for playing a young version of Marvel Comics’ mutant heroine Storm in “X-Men: Apocalypse,” is that she is part of a bit of modern film controversy. Shipp has a major part in David Sandberg‘s “Kung Fury 2” opposite her former “X-Men” franchise co-star Michael Fassbender, but the ambitious and insane buddy cop satire (featuresArnold Scwarzenegger playing the president of the United States) has been stuck in limbo after some financial issues via Chinese investors and the movie doesn’t seem to be coming out anytime soon despite a previous online leak showcasing a ton of fun footage from the wacky action-packed comedy, which may never see the light of day.
