There was a bit of a casting shake-up on the next film from the directing duo known as The Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), after Ryan Gosling (“Project Hail Mary”) ended up exiting the untitled movie at Universal Pictures and was quickly replaced by Matt Damon (“The Odyssey”). Now, Damon finally has some company on the call sheet as Canadian actress Sandra Oh (“Killing Eve,” “Invinicible” ) is being eyed for a co-starring role in the feature film.
That casting update hails from Deadline, as we’re still waiting on plot details for the film, which will hopefully come out eventually, so we don’t have to simply speculate what it will be about. Kwan, Scheinert, and Jonathan Wang are producing through their banner Playgrounds as part of an overall deal with the studio. Most recently, Oh was part of the ensemble of “Good Fortune” that also featured Keanu Reeves, Aziz Ansari, and Seth Rogen.

The Oscar-winning filmmakers, who first made a splash with their wacky film “Swiss Army Man,” were behind the A24 genre-bending family action-packed dramedy “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” which led to acting awards for Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan (after pulling himself out of retirement), and Jamie Lee Curtis. Other Oscar statue wins included Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing, making it the top-dog of the 2023 ceremony and quickly placing the filmmakers on studio hot-lists.
They would also dabble with streaming television, handling an episode of the “Star Wars” show “Skeleton Crew” on Disney+.
There seems to be a good chance that more high-profile actors will get involved in the film, but who The Daniels will ultimately select alongside Damon and Oh remains another mystery, as they keep piling up. One thing that isn’t unknown is when it will be playing in theaters, as Universal has slated it for November 19, 2027.
