Marvel Studios is spending a lot of time and resources fleshing out the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the small screen for Disney+, which means fans will have a neverending amount of Marvel shows/specials to keep eyeballs on the streaming service. One of those upcoming specials is an untitled Halloween project that is expected to begin shooting next year, reportedly focusing on an incarnation of the horror character Werewolf By Night.
There is a casting update for the Halloween project. According to Deadline, Irish actress Laura Donnelly from the HBO series “The Nevers” has landed a role opposite Gael Garcia Bernal. The accomplished Mexican actor is said to be playing the Latino version of the werewolf hero and would suggest a reoccurring role in the MCU beyond the special.

While they couldn’t confirm Laura Donnelly’s role, the outlet speculates the part could be that of Nina Price, aka, Vampire By Night, the niece of Jack Russell, the original comic book version of Werewolf By Night. Although, there are plenty of other female characters to pick from the horror side of Marvel Comics, such as monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone.
Other supernatural characters set within the MCU on the horizon include Oscar Issac‘s “Moon Knight” in the upcoming Disney+ series, coming sometime in 2022, and Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali as the new “Blade” in a feature film reboot that Bassam Tariq will direct. We were also introduced to the Ebony Blade in “Eternals,” which will lead to Kit Harington becoming the Black Knight. It’s unclear if all these characters will mingle in the future, but the likelihood seems high.
Despite production beginning soon, a director hasn’t been formally announced, and unknown if they’ll be hiring someone with a horror background.
