Over the weekend, mega-popular singer Billie Eilish officially announced to her audience during a concert in Manchester, England, that Canadian-American director James Cameron was shooting an upcoming mysterious 3D concert project (assumed to be a film) and would be using footage from the performance.
“You may have noticed that there are more cameras than usual in here. Basically, I can’t say much about it, but what I can say is that I’m working on something very, very special with somebody named James Cameron, and it’s going to be in 3D,” Elilish told the crowd in Manchester (via Good Morning America). “So, take that as you will, and these four shows here in Manchester, you and me are part of a thing that I am making with him. He’s in this audience somewhere, just saying. So don’t mind that, and also I’ll probably be wearing this exact outfit for like four days in a row.”
However, we’re still in the dark about what exactly this is going to be. Eilish’s entry to the world of moviemaking isn’t that foreign as the musician has won two Oscars for Best Original Song, thanks to her fantastic work on tunes for “No Time To Die” and “Barbie.”
Although it hasn’t been confirmed, this announcement has led to lots of speculation that Eilish could, in turn, contribute to Cameron’s upcoming release of “Avatar: Fire & Ash” in December with an end-credit song, not unlike what happened with The Weeknd‘s track for “Avatar: The Way of Water.”
Cameron has been slowly putting together various projects after spending a good chunk of time on the “Avatar” sequels, such as co-writing an adaptation of the Joe Abercrombie monster special forces book “The Devils“ (think of a period fantasy version of Hellboy’s B.P.R.D.) and is gearing up to turn the harrowing Charles Pellegrino WWII novel “Ghosts of Hiroshima“ into a feature as well.
Stay tuned for future details on when and where this Billie Eilish concert film can be viewed, super exciting regardless. You can view the announcement made by Eilish below.
