Marvel's 'Echo' Disney+ Series Adds Actress Devery Jacobs

Marvel Studios continues to pump out a wave of series (content?) for Disney+, and one of the upcoming series is Echo,” a “Hawkeyespin-off show that focuses on the deaf character Maya Lopez, played by newcomer Alaqua Cox. “Echo” is being written and executive produced by Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen, who previously worked on “Hawkeye.”

As filming is underway, Deadline has revealed that Indigenous actress Devery Jacobs (“Reservation Dogs“) has landed the role of Julie. Although details are scarce, she is said to be one of the show’s leads.

Jacobs’ “Reservation Dogs” co-star Zahn McClarnon (“Fargo,” “Westworld“) is already part of the MCU and played Echo’s father in the “Hawkeye” series. It’s unknown if he’ll return for the new project in flashbacks, as he was killed during one origin reveal in “Hawkeye.”

Echo is a deaf Native American comic book character with the ability to imitate any opponent’s fighting style and also has a connection to Marvel Comics supervillain Wilson Fisk, aka, The Kingpin.

There are already major rumors that claim Vincent D’Onofrio will reprise The Kingpin role in the show. And that makes a lot of sense since Echo and Kingpin were intimately tied together on the “Hawkeye” show. None of it is official, but there are rumors that Charlie Cox‘s Daredevil will turn up in the series as well, and given how connected his character is to Kingpin, it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility.

“Echo” likely won’t be ready to stream on Disney+ until some time in 2023 as “She-Hulk” and “Ms. Marvel” are expected to be the next shows to follow up the currently airing “Moon Knight” series. That could be it for shows on Disney+ this year other than the “Guardians Of The Galaxy” holiday special and an untitled Halloween special which will feature Gale Garcia Bernal as an incarnation of the horror superhero Werewolf By Night.

With production already underway, we’ll likely learn of more casting additions (and potentially confirm some of those rumors) in the coming weeks and months.
