Got a Tip?

Zack Snyder’s Ambitious Plans For ‘Justice League 2 & 3’ Included The Legion of Doom & Deaths of Multiple Heroes

Once upon a time, a huge plan for the DC Extended Universe was planed… and then it never happened. As HBO Max is about to debut “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” on March 18, glimpses of what could have been — had Zack Snyder been allowed to unveil his master plan and make the sequels he wanted — have been revealed. A string of storyboards for the unmade “Justice League” sequels arrived on social media (via Comic Book Resources) giving fans some clues what Zack Snyder had planned for “Justice League 2” and “Justice League 3.” Adding to the legitimacy of the storyboards, Twitter has removed the images due to copyright issues which would mean they were indeed the property of WarnerMedia and Warner Bros. Pictures.

You might remember there were some teases for the Legion of Doom coming in the future as there was a button scene that featured Lex Luthor and Joe Manganiello‘s Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke on a yacht.

Some of the more interesting elements in “Justice League 2” would have had seen Lex Luthor recruit multiple villains such as Dr. Poison, Black Manta, Ocean Master, Captain Cold, and The Riddler for The Legion of Doom, the villainous counterpart of The Justice League. The last two characters would have seemingly been introduced in “The Flash” and “The Batman” respectively before those projects got sidelined and or revamped (Ben Affleck was going to make the ‘Batman’ film at once point, multiple directors were attached to ‘Flash’ over the years). Additionally, it doesn’t seem like Deathstroke was originally intended to be part of the lineup.

As you would imagine, the original vision was super violent and would have had a pretty grim fate for the heroes.

The Legion would have killed Wonder Woman and Aquaman with The Riddler killing himself after solving the Anti-Life Equation (The Riddler would have been the main villain in Ben Affleck’s version of “The Batman.”) We’d also see Lex Luther being killed by Superman’s heat-vision as he was under the control of Darkseid. Cyborg seeing half his body ripped in half when trying to help Flash against Captain Cold.

“Justice League 3” would have seen The Flash going back in time to fix all the superhero deaths, and yes, it all sounds pretty grand, kind of nuts, and perhaps not unlike “Avengers: Endgame” in some regards with the ideas of using time-travel to unkill heroes. Will we ever get these films? Hardcore Snydercut fans will tell you yes, that never say never, and DC could reverse course, but I’d bet you almost all the money in the world that’s unlikely. As previously mentioned, Zack Synder’s “Justice League” will debut on HBO Max on March 18. Below, well, evidence of something too-real that Warner Media had to zap it off the internet.
