Got a Tip?

Keanu Reeves Keen To Join The MCU, & Seems “Multiverse” Conversant: “It Would Be An Honor”

If there’s an actor’s name who consistently comes up in all fan-casting for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s almost always Keanu Reeves. In the past, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige has said the company is “committed” to finding a role for Reeves, and it seems like only a matter of time before he joins the fold. So, in a recent interview with Esquire promoting the upcoming “The Matrix Resurrections,” the subject of the MCU naturally came up. Reeves seems to be well versed in the lore of the MCU and the terminology as he referred to the “multiverse” narrative craze that looks all set to dominate their stories and had some praise to shower over the franchise.

As Esquire notes, Reeves seems awfully familiar with the workings of Marvel. “Isn’t it bigger than a universe? It’s almost like a multiverse… It’s a Marvel-verse. It would be an honor,” Reeves said. “There’s some really amazing directors and visionaries, and they’re doing something no one’s ever really done. It’s special in that sense in terms of the scale, the ambition, the production. So it’d be cool to be a part of that.”

It’s worth pointing out that Reeves brushed alongside Marvel franchises in the past, as he was one of the many actors considered for the Wolverine role in Bryan Singer’sX-Men” before Australian theater actor eventually Hugh Jackman took the part.

Deadline reporter Justin Kroll also recently revealed on Twitter that Reeves was approached for Sony’sKraven The Hunter.” Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has been said to be a big Keanu Reeves fan and was spotted at a screening for the original “John Wick” before the franchise took off and has stated in the past to Comic Book that they contact Keanu Reeves about projects regularly.

Fans online have supported the idea of Reeves being considered for rebooted versions of heroes such as Ghost Rider and Silver Surfer, and with the “X-Men” eventually joining the MCU, there will be no shortage of characters he could choose from if he were so interested.

Meanwhile, “The Matrix Resurrections” will debut on December 17 in traditional theaters and streams free for subscribers on HBO Max. Fingers crossed for a Marvel Keanu announcement one day? Presumably, he won’t just want a cameo, though.
