Marvel Studios has finally found an actor to play cosmic supervillain Galactus for their “Fantastic Four” reboot helmed by Matt Shakman (“WandaVision”). According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ralph Inseon (“The Green Knight”) has been selected for the fan-favorite villain, Galactus, who is expected to share scenes with Julia Garner’s Shalla-Bal, aka The Silver Surfer (potentially a nod to the Earth-X run of comics). The villain, a devourer of worlds, has never been portrayed as his likeness in the comics—seen as a celestial storm cloud in the Tim Story-led “Fantastic Four” movies— and it’s expected that Marvel’s VFX will render him faithfully to a gigantic scale.
That’s not it, as the outlet mentions that veteran actor John Malkovich (“Being John Malkovich”) has also nabbed a mystery role in the MCU project. Let the speculation begin about who Malkovich could be playing. He’s certainly the kind of actor who could bring a level of gravitas to a wackier character like Mole Man, an inhabitant of Zenn-La/The Negative Zone, or simply military/NASA brass.
Other cast members previously announced for the remake consist of Pedro Pascal as Dr. Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, Garner, and Paul Walter Hauser in another mystery role (some are speculating as the Fantastic Four’s robotic A.I. named H.E.R.B.I.E.)
Ineson is a British character actor from Yorkshire known for his district gravelly voice, making him a great choice to voice a boomingly large villain like Galactus, who enlists his various heralds in comics like The Silver Surfer to seek out planets he can consume without advanced life living on them. The actor’s credits include “Game of Thrones,” “Ready Player One,” “The Creator,” “The First Omen,” and Robert Eggers’ “The Witch,” and his upcoming vampire flick “Nosferatu.” He previously appeared in the MCU in James Gunn’s “The Guardians of The Galaxy” as one of The Ravagers aligned with Yondu, but it was a rather small part.
“Fantastic Four” is set to begin filming this summer in England at Pinewood Studios U.K. and has a tentative release date of July 25, 2025.
