'The Man Who Fell To Earth' Trailer: Chiwetel Ejiofor Stars In A Legacy Sequel Series To A David Bowie Sci-Fi Classic

Sci-fi revivals are all the rage these days, and Showtime is looking to bring back a lesser-known classic that starred the late David Bowie as they’ve made a television series version of “The Man Who Fell To Earth.” The new version follows a new alien character who arrives on Earth at a turning point in human evolution and must confront his own past to determine our future.

Showtime has released a new trailer for the sci-fi drama. The fantastic cast includes Chiwetel Ejiofor and Naomie Harris alongside Bill Nighy playing the David Bowie character, based on the 1976 Nicolas Roeg sci-fi classic. Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet are behind the series, serving as executive producers and co-showrunners.

Other actors on the call-sheet are Jimmi Simpson, Rob Delaney, Sonya Cassidy, Joana Ribeiro, Annelle Olaleye, Kate Mulgrew, and Clarke Peters.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Based on the Walter Tevis novel of the same name and the iconic film that starred David Bowie, THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH will follow a new alien character (Ejiofor) who arrives on Earth at a turning point in human evolution and must confront his own past to determine our future.

Kurtzman, of course, was an integral part of the J.J. Abrams reboot of “Star Trek” and continues to work on the franchise via multiple series. He also attempted to launch the Dark Universe; a cinematic universe focused on the classic Universal Monsters that started and ended with the Tom Cruise pic “The Mummy.”
