Another Roald Dahl (“Fantastic Mr. Fox”) project is arriving on Netflix as the streaming service has secured the rights to a heap of the author’s work, and their latest feature film adaptation, “The Twits,” has landed a trailer, with the animated pic hitting the app later this month that boasts music from David Byrne featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore.
Phil Johnson (“Ralph Breaks The Internet”) directs alongside co-directors Katie Shanahan and Todd Demong from a script Johnson co-wrote with Meg Favreau, with Jellyfish Pictures (“The Bad Guys”) handling the animation. Produced by Johnston, Maggie Malone, and Daisy May West.
A logline for “The Twits” via the folks over at Netflix:
The Twits tells the story of Mr. and Mrs. Twit, the meanest, smelliest, nastiest people on the face of the earth, and their epic battle against a family of magical Muggle-Wumps and two brave children who refuse to let the Twits’ cruelty win.
The voice cast assembled for the pic features the talents of Margo Martindale (“The Americans,” “The Sticky”), Johnny Vegas (“Benidorm,” “Bleak House”), Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (“Never Have I Ever,” “Freakier Friday”), Ryan Lopez (“Primos, “Phineas & Ferb”), Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”), Natalie Portman (“Black Swan”), Timothy Simons (“Nobody Wants This,” “Veep”), Nicole Byer (“Long Story Short,” “Why Won’t You Date Me?”), Jason Mantzoukas (“Brooklyn 99,” “Big Mouth”), Alan Tudyk (Andor, Superman), Mark Proksch (“What We Do in the Shadows,” “Better Call Saul”), Rebecca Wisocky (“Ghosts,” “Devious Maids”), and Charlie Berens (“Green & Gold”).
“On behalf of the massive gaggle of weirdos who made this movie, we can’t wait for the world to meet our strange, ugly baby,” Johnson said in an official statement on the new animated flick.
You can check out the new trailer for “The Twits” below, as subscribers can start watching the movie on October 17.
