Streaming giant Netflix is releasing the sequel to the Norwegian comedy “Troll” later this year, and they’ve shared a brand new trailer for the pic, “Troll 2,” which is very much parodying the MonsterVerse franchise (“Godzilla” and “Kong” films) and looks to add their own wacky stamp on the giant monster genre.
“Troll 2,” not to be confused with the infamous bad movie from 1990 that has amassed a cult following, has Roar Uthaug (“Tomb Raider”) returning to direct from a script penned by Espen Aukan, with a cast that features Ine Marie Wilmann, Kim Falck, Mads Sjøgård Pettersen, and Sara Khorami.

An official logline for the creature feature courtesy of Netflix:
When a dangerous new troll is awakened, unleashing devastation across Norway, beloved adventurers Nora, Andreas, and Captain Kris are thrust into their most perilous mission yet. To stop the creature’s ruthless rampage, they must enlist new allies and delve into the country’s ancient history, searching for answers. As the clock ticks and the troll’s path of destruction grows wider, our heroes face impossible odds in their fight to save their homeland from falling into darkness.
This is, of course, a follow-up to the first Netflix installment from 2022, which was also helmed by Uthaug.
Motion Blur is behind the new streaming movie with Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkeurd producing. You can check out that new trailer for “Troll 2” below as the comedic monster flick arrives on December 1.
