Well, the Duffer Brothers‘ deal at Paramount Pictures has just moved into the realm of feature films as the sibling duo known for “Stranger Things” is going to be making a film for the studio, and we cannot wait to see how this all pans out.
The report hailing from Variety established that the studio has planted a flag for the untitled project’s release date for November 3, 2028, but is stopping short of sharing any real plot or character details. This new movie is part of the Duffer’s four-year deal with Paramount Skydance, as the studio seems to be looking to expand its relationship with them and their production banner Upside Down Pictures beyond television.

While we’re unsure if this will be based on existing IP or something completely original, Paramount has made a very large push for various franchise projects in recent memory. Some of those include recruiting James Cameron to produce/co-write a new “Terminator” film (while he’s trying to get the next two “Avatar” films greenlit by Disney by cutting down costs and post-production time), a new live-action “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie that has producer Neal H. Moritz producing (an R-rated adaptation of “The Last Ronin” was said to be put on ice), John Krasinski is helming “A Quiet Place III,” a “Star Trek” reboot is in the works from Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, a slew of “Transformers” films in various stages of development, “Sonic The Hedgehog 4,” and they’re also dipping their toes in the mature-focused video game adaptations with a “Call of Duty” pic from screenwriter Taylor Sheridan and director Peter Berg.
Their last effort was the Netflix limited series “The Boroughs,” and their take on Stephen King‘s “The Tailsman” has gone up in smoke at the streamer after trying to get that one off the ground. Stay tuned for further information on the Duffers’ movie when trades or Paramount feel the need to share it with us.
