Mahershala Ali Getting Tired Of Talking About ‘Blade’ Reboot: “Leave Me Out Of It”

Actor Mahershala Ali should be celebrating as “Jurassic World Rebirth” is projected to have made a hefty $318 million-plus at the global box office (the second biggest franchise opening behind the $525.5 million earned by “Jurassic World” ), but there seems to be growing frustration during the press tour as the two-time Oscar-winning actor has been inundated with questions about Marvel Studios‘ “Blade” reboot.

From the sounds of things, Ali isn’t exactly in a position to give updates on the film’s status and is now getting a lot more blunt with his responses to questions concerning “Blade.” When his “Jurassic World Rebirth” co-star, Jonathan Bailey, during a chat with Vogue Magazine’s “Off The Cuff,” asked Scarlett Johansson and Ali how many Marvel movies they’ve been in.

Ali jokingly responded by dodging the question entirely with, “Leave me out of it.”

Previously, the actor has been referring to “Blade” talk to Marvel and said he was “ready” to get filming going, but has been waiting on the studio. Although we’re still pretty much in the dark about the studio’s true intentions, given that there hasn’t been an official update from Kevin Feige or Disney.

This comes after David S. Goyer (“Foundation”), who was the main creative behind the original “Blade” trilogy, revealed that his offer to help with the new movie was rejected by Marvel Studios and is baffled why it has been taking so long.

Will Ali eventually pass on the project entirely? Could Marvel pivot to a Marvel Comics horror team film like “Midnight Sons” or “Nightstalkers” instead as their first big-screen debut of the new version of Blade?

Those questions remain up in the air for the moment. Considering it was back in 2019 that the actor was first revealed as playing Eric Brooks, aka Blade, you can certainly understand the actor’s eagerness to finally get the movie in the can and exhaustion having to comment on the project, when he doesn’t have answers to share.
