'WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story' Teaser Trailer Starring Daniel Radcliffe

“Weird Al” Yankovic is arguably the best writer and performer of pastiches and parodies of popular music going back to the 1980s, and not many have been able to come close. The legendary funnyman that has dominated multiple decades with his joyful music is finally getting his own biopic as the Roku Original film, “WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story,” will star British actor Daniel Radcliffe of “Harry Potter” fame in the titular role. A bit of casting that certainly had people talking when it was announced.

Roku has now released a teaser trailer for ‘WEIRD’ (see below) that gives audiences an idea of what they can expect from the satirical film.

The new biopic produced by Funny Or Die and Tango claims to hold nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like “Eat It” and “Like A Surgeon” to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. It will also take audiences on a truly unbelievable journey through Yankovic’s life and career, from gifted child prodigy to the greatest musical legend of all time to ever play the accordion.

“Wearing the Hawaiian shirt is a huge responsibility that I don’t take lightly, and I’m honored to finally share with the world the absolutely 100 percent unassailably true story of Weird Al’s depraved and scandalous life,” Radcliffe said of playing the iconic parody man.

“When my last movie ‘UHF‘ came out in 1989, I made a solemn vow to my fans that I would release a major motion picture every 33 years, like clockwork. I’m very happy to say we’re on schedule,” said Yankovic in a statement. “And I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for.”

‘WEIRD’ is written by Al Yankovic and Eric Appel, with Appel also directing and is an executive producer. “When Weird Al first sat me down against my will and told me his life story, I didn’t believe any of it, but I knew that we had to make a movie about it,” Appel, added.

No release date yet, but we can’t wait to see the comedic biopic when it’s released on Roku.
