‘Cry Wolf’: Brie Larson & Olivia Colman Star In FX’s Remake Of Danish Social Worker Drama Series

Actress Brie Larson was recently seen in the latest season of FX‘s “The Bear” and is looking to continue that working relationship as she has joined their upcoming limited series “Cry Wolf,” taking a role alongside fellow Oscar-winner and “Bear” alumna Olivia Colman (who nabbed an Emmy nomination for that guest role yesterday).

This casting update comes from The Hollywood Reporter, as the new FX limited series is being overseen by Sarah Treem (“The Affair”) and is an English remake of the Danish version “Ulven Kommer” from Maja Jul Larsen. Given the subject matter, you can understand why FX decided to court both Larson and Colman.

“Cry Wolf” will focus on “a social worker (Colman) and a mother (Larson) are thrown into crisis when the mother’s teenage daughter alleges abuse.” Those allegations “push both women to their limits as they navigate an impossible situation.” A drama that will certainly allow both acclaimed actresses to chew the scenery and play off each other, along with the yet-to-be-named supporting cast.

Treem was the showrunner and creator of Showtime‘s “The Affair,” along with writing credits on “In Treatment” and “House of Cards,” so grim subject matter and exploring the darker side of the world isn’t new ground for the television creative.

Colman has been on a remake streak with The Roses (a modern version of “War of the Roses“) opposite Benedict Cumberbatch, coming to theaters next month, and has a lead role in Netflix’s new take on “Pride & Prejudice in the form of a series.

Larson’s last major lead role in a TV project was Apple TV+‘s “Lessons in Chemistry,” and before that was “United States of Tara.”
