Today, there was an official announcement that Paul Thomas Anderson‘s latest flick, “One Battle After Another,” starring Oscar-winner Leonardo DiCaprio, is getting a multiple-format release when it heads to theaters later this month.
That information was made public on the film’s official social media account, as the pic is heading to IMAX with 70mm and VistaVision formats as well. Anderson notes that VistaVision is a format that hasn’t been used to project a wide release since the Marlon Brando-directed Western “One-Eyed Jacks” back in 1961.
DiCaprio leads an impressive cast that also features Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, and Chase Infiniti. We see the movie focusing on a former revolutionary and father, played by DiCaprio, who is on a new mission.
An official logline for “One Battle After Another” courtesy of Warner Bros:
Washed-up revolutionary Bob (DiCaprio) exists in a state of stoned paranoia, surviving off-grid with his spirited, self-reliant daughter, Willa (Infiniti). When his evil nemesis (Penn) resurfaces after 16 years and she goes missing, the former radical scrambles to find her, father and daughter both battling the consequences of his past.
On-the-rise cinematographer Michael Bauman lenses the pic after previously working with Anderson on “Licorice Pizza” as the two reunite.
With that VistaVision announcement, the studio has also shared a video to promote audiences seeking out the format, and you can watch that below. “One Battle After Another” arrives in theaters, a bombastic movie certainly crafted by PTA to be seen specifically on the biggest screen available, on September 24.
