‘Marvel Zombies’ Trailer: Marvel’s TV-MA Four-Part Horror Animated Series Debuts September 24 On Disney+

Later this month, Marvel Animation and Marvel Television will finally release their “What If…?” spinoff animated series “Marvel Zombies” as the studio has dropped a trailer for the upcoming Disney+ release. Confirming a TV-MA rating, making this more mature than previous animated efforts from Marvel.

“Marvel Zombies” first started as a comic book iteration before “What If…?” attempted to explore that Multiverse story and setting, as a version of the world has been overwhelmed with zombies after a plague, including transforming various heroes and villains into the superpowered undead threats.

Some of the actors lending their voices in “Marvel Zombies” features the likes of Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Tessa Thompson, Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Hailee Steinfeld, Wyatt Russell, Randall Park, Iman Vellani, and Dominique Thorne.

Bryan Andrews (who also directs) and Zeb Wells are head writers on the show, with a producing team that consists of Danielle Costa, Carrie Wassenaar, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, Wells, and Andrews.

An official synopsis for the latest MCU show via Marvel:

After the Avengers are overtaken by a zombie plague, a desperate group of survivors discover the key to bringing an end to the super-powered undead, racing across a dystopian landscape and risking life and limb to save their world.

This marks Marvel’s latest entry in the horror side of the MCU after briefly tapping into that world with the “Doctor Strange” franchise, “Werewolf By Night,” and the struggling “Blade” reboot. What comes next with future horror projects remains to be seen, but the studio certainly has a deep bench of characters to explore. We’ll have to wait and see if the studio has a huge desire to tackle things like “Midnight Sons” (no official plans announced, but rumors persist), “Nightstalkers” (Blade’s vampire hunting team), the more modern monstrous version of “The Howling Commando,” or “Legion of Monsters.”

Audiences can view the trailer for “Marvel Zombies” below, as the streaming four-part series will debut September 24, exclusively on Disney+.
