Coming off the massive success of the “Star Wars” streaming series “Andor,” as the show’s actress Denise Gough has confirmed, another big project is on the horizon, and she’ll be part of the cast for Greta Gerwig‘s “Narnia,” a reboot/prequel to the “Chronicles of Narnia” at Netflix.
Gough revealed the mysterious role during a chat with host/journalist Mehdi Hasan on the podcast “We’re Not Kidding With Mehdi & Friends,” where she alluded to playing another villain or, at least, someone who isn’t very nice to the children in the pic.

“I’m doing a film with Greta Gerwig called Narnia. So that’s, I’m playing someone mean in that, but it’s fine, it’s to children, it’s okay,” Gough responded cheekily when asked about future film projects by Hasan.
Gerwig, of course, was behind the billion-dollar hit “Barbie,” and the new iteration of “Narnia” is said to be an adaptation of the first C.S. Lewis novel “The Magician’s Nephew” with a cast that already features the likes of Emma Mackey as Jadis the White Witch (the magic-wielding antagonist of the franchise), former James Bond actor Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, and Meryl Streep was reportedly set to voice Aslan the Lion (Lewis’ messiah figure in the string of fantasy novels).
We’re curious to see if Netflix/Gerwig will continue with more “Narnia” adaptations if this new one is successful enough, as there is plenty of source material to pursue a franchise, since the fanbase for the literary IP is certainly there.
Another lovely aspect of the streaming fantasy film is that Netflix has agreed to a theatrical rollout for “Narnia,” which will include IMAX screenings. You can also listen to that full podcast episode with a conversation between Gough and Hasan below.
