Got a Tip?

‘Ahsoka’: Ray Stevenson Tapped To Play A Villain In The Disney+ ‘Star Wars’ Series

With “The Book of Boba Fett” in the rearview, Lucasfilm is putting its attention towards other upcoming streaming series. The third season of “The Mandalorian” is the most recent “Star Wars” show to go in front of cameras, even though star Pedro Pascal has been shooting “The Last of Us” in Calgary, Alberta simultaneously. Rosario Dawson’sAhsoka” is now assembling a cast as it gets ready to film in the very near future.

A new cast member has joined the “Star Wars” project, as The Hollywood Reporter says British actor Ray Stevenson is set to play a villain, an unnamed Admiral. Although, the outlet is quick to clarify he’s not playing Grand Admiral Thrawn, an antagonist of the books and “Star Wars: Rebels.”

Other cast members working alongside Dawson include Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as the live-action version of Sabine Wren, Ivanna Sahkno, and Anakin Skywalker actor Hayden Christensen.

The spinoff show coming from Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau is expected to continue Ahsoka’s mission, established in season two of “The Mandalorian,” to find Thrawn. However, it’s unclear if the digital incarnation of Luke Skywalker will factor into that quest, but the two did share some screentime in an episode of “The Book of Boba Fett.” Unless that tease goes nowhere as many other potential plot threads have.

“Ahsoka” begins filming this April in Los Angeles, which would suggest a debut sometime in 2023.

Stevenson made waves on the HBO series “Rome” before landing meaty action roles in multiple studio action films such as Marvel’sThor” trilogy, “Punisher: War Zone,” and “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.” This isn’t his first involvement with “Star Wars” as he voiced Gar Saxon on “Rebels” and “The Clone Wars.”

Obi-Wan Kenobi” is up next with Ewan McGregor back as the Jedi Knight and will begin airing on Disney+ May 25.
