Scott Cooper To Write/Direct Mysterious Two-Hander Crime Flick At Amazon MGM Studios’ United Artists

Filmmaker Scott Cooper has already wrapped on his Bruce Springsteen biopic “Deliver Me From Nowhere” (starring Jeremy Allen White as “The Boss”) and is putting together his next project, a mysterious untitled crime pic.

The new project revealed by The Hollywood Reporter has landed at Amazon MGM StudiosUnited Artists with mega-producer Scott Stuber attached as well, who recently worked with Cooper on his Springsteen film.

While details on the movie are limited, for the moment, Cooper is said to be writing and directing a “contemporary crime two-hander,” which is certainly in the director’s wheelhouse and sounds like it has major potential.

Of course, Cooper is no stranger to crime stories, having covered the infamous mass-murdering Boston gangster and FBI informant Whitey Bulger (played by Johnny Depp and a direct inspiration for Frank Castello in Martin Scorsese‘s “The Departed“) in “Black Mass,” and the hardboiled revenge thriller “Out of The Furnace” led by Christian Bale and Woody Harrelson.

We can’t wait to see what Scott Cooper does with his new movie, alongside more concrete plot details, and we wouldn’t be all that shocked if he’s able to recruit Bale for a role, big or small, after working together on “Furance,” “Hostiles,” and “The Pale Blue Eye.” But only time will tell if a reunion is truly in the cards.
