Stars Anna Kendrick and Seth Rogen are getting some great comedic help on their new film “Babies” and will feature the acting talents of Issa Rae (“Insecure”), Dan Stevens (“Solar Opposites”), Zach Cherry (“Severance”), and Kate Berlant (“Would It Kill You to Laugh?”).
The folks over at Variety revealed the four casting additions to the contemporary comedy flick, as Lauren Miller Rogen is set to direct “Babies” from a script she penned. The filmmaker, of course, the wife of Rogen, as the two notably have publicly opted not to have children, which likely spawned the idea of “Babies” as the couple in the movie sound like they could mirror a bit of their own lives and experiences by debating on having kids (Rogen famously turned a script he co-wrote with high school pal Evan Goldberg into “Superbad,” that could be seen as also taking inspiration from true events from their lives).

A logline for the pic as mentioned in the outlet’s reporting:
The film centers on Annie (Kendrick) and her husband, Aaron (Rogen), who are struggling with the decision of whether or not to bring a child into the world, and become instant co-parents when their newly divorced friend moves into their home with her 4-year-old.
“Babies” is sort of a reunion for Rogen and Kendrick, as they previously worked together on the 2011 Jonathan Levine-directed cancer dramedy “50/50,” which starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the film’s protagonist navigating a cancer diagnosis and treatment while trying to date.
It has a producing team that consists of Lylas Pictures‘ Miller Rogen and Jen W. Ray, AGC’s Stuart Ford, and Monarch’s Steve Barnett, with AGC’s Miguel A. Palos, Jr. and Zach Garrett, Monarch’s Alan Powell and Vicky Patel, and Lylas’ Sophie Høegh serving as executive producers on “Babies,” too. We’ll also see AGC and CAA Media Finance co-repping worldwide rights for the movie.
Filming on the dramedy is already underway in Los Angeles with the support of the California Film Commission’s Film and Television Tax Credit (used to attract local productions).
