Yesterday, the Disney Upfronts presentation took place as the company was showcasing its upcoming TV slate for Disney+, which has led to news concerning its two big IP releases, Marvel Studios‘ “VisionQuest” and Lucasfilm‘s second season of “Ahsoka” (creatively overseen by new studio head Dave Filoni and set during “The Mandalorian” era of the “Star Wars” universe).
First up, “VisionQuest,” led by Paul Bettany (the voice of J.A.R.V.I.S. established in “Iron Man,” with the role morphing into The Vision in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and further explored in “WandaVision“), is now officially set to be streaming on October 14, 2026 (Bettany was joined on stage by Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Hiddleston for the announcement and reveal of the first-look image).
Also, Bettany isn’t the only returning MCU cast member for the tech-focused series hailing from creator/writer Terry Matalas, as James Spader is back as the malicious AI villain Ultron and “Agent Carter” actor James D’Arcy, with the rest of the cast consisting of Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, Orla Brady, Emily Hampshire, and Ruaridh Mollica.
Other live-action MCU shows on the horizon include the third season of “Daredevil: Born Again” (looking like a “Defenders” reunion of sorts), and a second season of “Wonder Man” was greenlit not too long ago. The next round of episodes from “X-Men ’97” is expected sometime this summer, as we wait for an official date from the streaming service.
Also, we learned from “Ahsoka” lead actress Rosario Dawson (via io9) that the “Star Wars” show won’t be arriving until early 2017, so fans will have to be super patient on that front as it will see the return of not only Hayden Christensen‘s Anakin Skywalker, but Filoni revealed that the beloved Rebel figure Admiral Ackbar and Lars Mikkelsen‘s Grand Admiral Thrawn will be going toe-to-toe in the next season.
We’re still a tad in the dark about when Season 4 of “The Mandalorian” will be happening in the wake of this month’s release of Jon Favreau‘s “The Mandalorian & Grogu.” But another massive “Star Wars” project arriving next year will be Shawn Levy and Ryan Gosling‘s mysterious “Star Wars: Starfighter,” which is expected to hopefully take a more original route with a new adventure/characters.
Plenty of event-level entertainment is coming to Disney+, so stay tuned as we suspect there will be more promotion for the TV lineup at both San Diego Comic-Con and D23 Expo 2026.
