‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Star Charlie Cox Suggests Fans Need To Convince Marvel To Make A Solo Movie: “Everyone Just Write Letters”

Actor Charlie Cox is currently filming the follow-up season of Marvel‘s “Daredevil: Born Again,” but is still in the dark about the character’s feature film future when recently asked about the possibility of a solo movie being in the cards.

In an interview with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, Cox was quick to dismiss any personal insight or knowledge of existing plans for a solo “Daredevil” movie. Not that he is against the idea.

“I’m the worst person to ask,” Cox said of any hints of a solo film adventure for the Man Without Fear. “I have no idea. I don’t know, you have to ask the grown-ups. I don’t know anything. And I like not knowing anything, you know?”

Although Cox understands that fans wield a lot of power (they demanded he return to the role after Netflix cancelled the original show before the revival, and the studio eventually added those episodes to MCU canon), and could have an impact on that front.

“The only thing I’ll say is I’m just such a happy camper. I’m so thrilled to be here. I love that I get to tell the story in long-form. Also, because I’m part of the show, like you guys just had the experience, every season, we get to see the first two episodes on the big screen. So I get that experience. It is a shame because, particularly with the pilot, it’s such a cinematic episode,” Cox said. “It feels like it deserves to be seen on the big screen. But, I don’t know. Just write letters, everyone just write letters.”

Last week, Krysten Ritter was spotted in character as Jessica Jones on the set of season two of “Daredevil: Born Again” as her inclusion in the greater MCU and return was recently announced at the television upfronts. This is yet another sign that the Netflix/Marvel characters are mostly coming back, although it’s not official if Mike Colter (“Luke Cage”) and Finn Jones (“Iron Fist”) will also make the jump like Ritter or Jon Bernthal‘s Punisher.

Until then, we’ll keep our fingers crossed that director Destin Daniel Cretton (“Shang-Chi & The Legend of The Ten Rings”) considers adding Matt Murdock to the character lineup of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” (after briefly showing up in “Spider-Man: No Way Home“) to have the two NYC heroes teaming up or shows up in the next two “Avengers” films.

During the Fox era of Marvel movies, the studio released the Ben Affleck-led movie iteration in 2003 and then attempted a spinoff with Jennifer Garner‘s “Elektra” (the actress reprising the role for “Deadpool & Wolverine” in the third act) in 2005. There had been plans of a reboot at the studio before the film rights ultimately reverted to Marvel, leading to the Netflix series reboot starring Cox in the flagship streaming series.
