While British actor Harris Dickinson is going to be busy playing the iconic John Lennon in Sam Mendes‘ four Beatles biopics, he’s got a feature film releasing in the near future with “Urchin,” his feature film directorial debut.
We can now share a trailer for “Urchin,” which has a cast that includes Frank Dillane, Megan Northam, Karyna Khymchuk, Shonagh Marie, and Amr Waked.
A logline for the film written and directed by Dickinson:
The story follows Mike (Dillane), a rough sleeper in London, trapped in a cycle of self-destruction as he attempts to turn his life around. Raw and absurd, the film is a story about the strange patterns that keep pulling us back.
Dickinson likely first hit folks’ radar after appearing in critical darlings like “The Iron Claw” and “Triangle of Sadness,” so the expansion into the world of filmmaking certainly is going to be watched very closely. Even more so after “Urchin” ended up winning the Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique Prize and Dillane won Un Certain Regard’s Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival back in May, which could make it a project to keep an eye on during awards season.
Not too long ago, Dickinson was being mentioned for being potentially in the running to play the next James Bond in Denis Villeneuve‘s “Bond 26,” as Dickinson (once played a would-be spy and WWI soldier in “The King’s Man“) was brought up alongside Jacob Elordi and Tom Holland (called the report “speculative” when asked about it).
You can check out the trailer for “Urchin” below as the movie arrives in the United Kingdom on October 3 via Picturehouse Entertainment (we’ll have to be patient to learn about a domestic release), and you can read The Playlist’s Cannes review for it right here.
