‘Ne Zha 2’: A24 Releasing Billion-Dollar Hit Chinese Animated Flick On August 22, Michelle Yeoh Joins English Voice Cast

2025 has been an interesting year at the box office as the most successful film at the global box office is the Chinese animated fantasy film “Ne Zha 2,” as the sequel has amassed a juggernaut total of $1.899 billion (making it the most successful animated film of all-time) and is finally getting an English dub release thanks to A24.

A24 made the announcement today via outlets like The Hollywood Reporter, as they add that Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh (“Everything Everywhere All At Once”) has been named as the first person to lend their voice to the English dub version. Directed by Jiaozi and a sequel to the 2019 movie (which had been released in the West by Well Go USA Entertainment in 2020), the pic has dominated the Chinese box office and currently holds the top spot with Disney‘s “Lilo & Stitch” in the number two slot at $975 million.

A logline for the hit animated movie:

After the catastrophe, although the souls of Nezha and Aobing were saved, their bodies would soon be shattered. Taiyi Zhenren planned to use the seven-colored lotus to rebuild their bodies.

“I’m honored to be part of ‘Ne Zha 2,’ a landmark in Chinese animation and a powerful reminder of how universal our stories can be,” Yeoh said in an official statement. “Sharing this with audiences in English is such a joy, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience the wonder, heart, spectacular artistry, and magic of this film on the big screen.”

“Ne Zha 2” is going to be heading to the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand on August 22, screening in IMAX, 3D, and other premium large formats.
