Peter Dinklage Teases Eitri's Return In 'Thor: Love & Thunder'

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to grow, we keep getting new characters introduced with nearly every new film and Disney+ series, how exactly established characters will return isn’t always a lock. Some have been ushered into the MCU only to never be seen again and others pop up again in surprising ways. However, one minor character from “Avengers: Infinity War” could be coming back sooner than originally expected.

Actor Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones“) is doing press to promote his new musical “Cyrano” and was asked by The Empire Film Podcast about potentially returning to the MCU as Dwarf King Eitri in the future. Dinklage hints that he might be involved in Taika Waititi’s upcoming “Thor: Love & Thunder,” as Eirtri helped Thor create his new cosmic weapon, Stormbreaker, in “Avengers: Infinity War.”

“Well, there’s another ‘Thor’ movie there, isn’t there? Coming out that Taika’s directed. But, I didn’t say anything. I didn’t say anything,” Dinklage teased.

We could theorize that Eitri might be brought back to help create other weapons for the film’s heroines as Natalie Portman will be playing The Mighty Thor incarnation of Jane Foster and we’ll also see Tessa Thompson‘s Valkryie return too.

It’ll be interesting to see what other surprises “Thor: Love & Thunder” holds as Oscar-winner Russell Crowe (“Gladiator“) revealed a while back he’ll be playing Marvel’s version of Zeus, part of the cosmic group The Olympians and father of Avengers member Hercules. Ahead of “Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.3,” that team will appear in the “Thor” sequel as confirmed by set photos in Sydney, Australia from the film’s shoot.

There are other fantasy-focused characters from Thor’s comic book lore that haven’t been mined alongside the dwarves, such as Ulik/rock trolls and the light elves, although, it’s unclear if they’ll ever be explored.

Dinklage also nabbed another superhero project with a new “Toxic Avenger” movie, which is expected to be a satirical action flick.
