Michael B. Jordan’s ‘Thomas Crown Affair’ Remake Adds Danai Gurira, Kenneth Branagh & Lily Gladstone

Michael B. Jordan is certainly riding high after the massive box office success of the vampire pic “Sinners” and is getting ready to shoot his next directorial effort after handling “Creed III” with Amazon MGM Studios‘ latest iteration of “Thomas Crown Affair.” Three more actors have joined Jordan and Taylor Russell (“Bones & All”) on the remake’s call sheet, and they’re some impressive names.

The casting update is from The Hollywood Reporter, who reveal that Jordan will be reuniting with his “Black Panther” co-star Danai Gurira (“The Walking Dead”) alongside the other tantalizing additions to the cast such as Lily Gladstone (“Killers of The Flower Moon”) and Kenneth Branagh (“Tenet”).

“The Thomas Crown Affair” focuses on a professional art-thief and romantic, as that angle is said to be carried over with the new version that has a script penned by Drew Pearce after a previous draft written by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson. Pearce’s film credits include “The Fall Guy,” “Hobbs & Shaw,” “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation,” “Iron Man 3,” and “Hotel Artemis.”

That role of our love-lorn thief is now inhabited by Jordan was previously played by Pierce Brosnan and the late Steve McQueen in their respective versions from directors John McTiernan (“Die Hard”) in 1999 and Norman Jewison (“Fiddler On The Roof”) in 1968.

While the main leg of the film’s production will take place in the United Kingdom, there is an expectation that we could see the film set and shot in various European cities.
