Universal Pictures is looking to give one of its longtime “The Fast & The Furious” cast members a new action vehicle to star in, as rapper turned actor Ludacris (aka, Christopher Brian Bridges) has been tapped to lead “Limited Edition.” The project is being produced by 87North‘s Kelly McCormick and David Leitch (as part of their production banner’s first-look deal with the studio), as “Novocaine” filmmakers Dan Berk and Robert Olsen are also set to both write and direct the flick.
Details in the original reporting from Deadline failed to dish any concrete plot/character information for “Limited Edition,” but we’re sure that will eventually come out at a later date from Universal, when they’re ready to share those tidbits.

Leitch’s footprint in the modern action world is looming with credits such as “John Wick” (uncredited directing work and executive produces the franchise), “Hobbs & Shaw,” “Atomic Blonde,” “Bullet Train,” “Deadpool 2,” “The Fall Guy,” his next release “How To Rob A Bank,” and nearly helmed last summer’s “Jurassic World Rebirth” for Universal. He’s also produced projects such as “Nobody,” “Nobody 2,” “Kate,” “Violent Night,” “Love Hurts,” and the upcoming “Over Your Dead Body.”
While he doesn’t have exactly a huge role in “The Fast & The Furious” franchise, Ludacris plays Tej Parker, who was a race fixer/promoter introduced in “2 Fast 2 Furious,” and morphed into a skilled hacker over time in subsequent sequels, becoming a comedic relief supporting cast member. Seeing him reunite with Universal, again, with the franchise coming to an end, isn’t all that shocking.
Other roles in the past for Ludacris include Guy Ritchie‘s underworld crime comedy “RockNRolla,” “Hustle & Flow,” “Gamer,” and the video game pic “Max Payne.”
Stay tuned for further details on “Limited Edition,” alongside who they decided to cast alongside Ludacris, as we have to assume they’ll want some more established talent involved in co-starring/supporting roles.
