The cast of “Avengers: Doomsday” is as stacked as it gets, but one OG superhero won’t be showing up in that event installment helmed by the Russo Brothers. Mark Ruffalo, who plays Bruce Banner, aka The Hulk, has addressed his involvement during promotion for the upcoming crime thriller “Crime 101” (co-starring Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, and Barry Keoghan) that he’s not in the new Multiverse adventure.
Talking to Empire Magazine in their latest issue (via ScreenRant), despite appearing as the character in Sony/Marvel‘s “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” coming to screens this summer, he’s not going to be in “Avengers: Doomsday” in December, but is keeping the door open for more Hulk in the future.

“As long as they keep finding cool things to do with Hulk. It’s given me so many gifts. You know, I probably wouldn’t be in ‘Crime 101’ if it wasn’t for ‘The Avengers,'” Ruffalo said of his desire to play Hulk again.
“Avengers: Secret Wars” is next on deck for The Russo Brothers (said to be shooting in the United Kingdom later this year), which is an obvious and logical place for Ruffalo’s Hulk to show up in the MCU, but that’ll likely be confirmed by Marvel Studios in their next round of casting announcements. Ruffalo isn’t the only actor saying in interviews they’re not appearing as Elizabeth Olsen said she won’t be in “Doomsday” either, after the Scarlet Witch was “killed” at the end of “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness.”
We’ll have to be patient to learn when Ruffalo’s Hulk will return to the MCU and if he’ll end up surviving the one-two punch of the “Avengers” sequels.
Bart Layton‘s “Crime 101” (based on the Don Winslow novel of the same name) arrives in theaters on February 13, and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (“Shang-Chi & The Legend of the Ten Rings”) is set for release on July 31.
