There were rumblings last week that Henry Cavill of “The Witcher” series and currently shooting the “Highlander” reboot (from “John Wick” franchise director Chad Stahelski) would be showing up in the second season of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” after a video was making the rounds of stars Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell at the New York City Comic-Con (from last year) with the latter seemingly teasing that the former Superman actor would be in the follow-up season, but Claffery took to social media to clarify things.
The actor said in a new Instagram story post, “Just to clarify, the thing [Dexter] was referring to in the interview had nothing to do with Henry Cavill coming into the show or the [‘Game of Thrones’] universe (I wish!). Complete misunderstanding. Hope everyone enjoys the Trial of the Seven.”
While there had been a minor delay in the production start of “Highlander,” it didn’t really make much sense that Cavill would have time to shoot any scenes for another project while healing up, and the internet ran wild by inserting a possible character, too (the rebellious Daemon Blackfyre), which was never mentioned by Dexter in the original video, to begin with. Give an inch, and the internet will take a mile.
HBO has already confirmed that they’re turning the original three novellas penned by George R.R. Martin into three seasons (second season shooting as we speak), but the author has provided them 12 more story outlines with the possible aim of exploring both the lives of Dunk and Egg beyond their literary adventures. Also, showrunner Ira Parker is optimistic that they could end up shooting many more seasons beyond those three.
You can also see the original post made by Claffey below, as the latest episode of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” debuted last night.
