‘VisionQuest’ Adds British Comedian Diane Morgan To Cast Of Marvel’s Latest Disney+ Series

Avengers” franchise actor Paul Bettany is making a grand return to his Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero character Vision (first appearing in Joss Whedon‘s “Avengers: Age of Ultron“) in the aptly named “VisionQuest,” and two more additions to Marvel Studios‘ AI-focused streaming series have been named.

Variety has revealed that British comedian Diane Morgan (“Mandy,” “After Life”), best known for her wildly popular satirical interviewer character Philomena Cunk (“Black Mirror” creator Charlie Brooker having produced various projects featuring the comedic character), and newcomer Lauren Morais have joined the MCU show’s cast.

“VisionQuest,” headed up by showrunner and creator Terry Matalas (“12 Monkeys,” “Star Trek: Picard”), is said to be the third part in a trilogy of Marvel shows launched with “WandaVision” and followed up with the witch-focused “Agatha All Along.”

Last we saw of Vision, he was killed in “Avengers: Infinity War” by Thanos, only to have his robotic body reactivated by the newly formed S.W.O.R.D. and was turned into a government weapon, then assigned to take out Wanda, and was persuaded to leave peacefully by the other Vision (a projection of Wanda’s making). Vision, while an artificial construct, is still very much an optimist with painfully humane patience and often spouts compelling/poetic philosophy when confronted by threats. Unlike most of the other Avengers, he comes off as more interested in de-escalating conflicts but isn’t afraid to go toe-to-toe when required. We’ll likely see him combating S.W.O.R.D. reprogramming as more AI characters are expected to appear in “VisionQuest,” such as the “Avengers” bad guy, Ultron.

Others among the cast include James Spader returning as a version of Ultron, Faran Tahir reprises his “Iron Man” villain role of Raza (leader of a Middle-East faction of terrorist group The Ten Rings), Mary McDonnell (“Battlestar Galactica”), Todd Stashwick, Ruaridh Mollica, T’Nia Miller as the MCU version of Jacosta (in the comics, a female iteration of Ultron), Emily Hampshire, Orla Brady, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and “Agent Carter” actor James D’Arcy is said to be back as well.
