‘Wuthering Heights’ First Reactions: Margot Robbie & Jacob Elordi Have “Steamy” Chemistry In Anticipated & Buzzy Epic Romance Pic From Emerald Fennell

British filmmaker Emerald Fennell (“Promising Young Woman,” “Saltburn”) is back with her new reimagining of the classic romance tale of “Wuthering Heights,” based on the beloved novel from author Emily Brontë (what obviously inspired modern projects like “Bridgerton“). The highly anticipated love story stars Margot Robbie (also produces via LuckChap) and Jacob Elordi (“Saltburn,” “Frankenstein”) with other actors such as Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver, Martin Clunes, and Ewan Mitchell in supporting roles (singer turned actress Charli xcx of “The Moment” also appears).

With that, the movie is arriving soon, and a wave of first reactions for “Wuthering Heights” has made its way online, and you can read a rundown of those impressions, many positive, below:

Warner Bros. is providing the following brief logline of the latest iteration:

A bold and original imagining of one of the greatest love stories of all time, Emerald Fennell’s “Wuthering Heights” stars Margot Robbie as Cathy and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff, whose forbidden passion for one another turns from romantic to intoxicating in an epic tale of lust, love, and madness.

While many have shared their excitement for “Wuthering Heights,” Fennell’s reimaging has seen some minor backlash toward the casting, as Heathcliff, in the novel, is alluded to as being a foreigner (some saying it was a miscast as his ancestry not exactly spelled out but is described as “dark-skinned gipsy in aspect”), and another nagging issue is the young lovelorn characters are supposed to be teenagers in the book (Robbie 35 and Elordi 28).

“Wuthering Heights” has a fitting release date of February 13, just in time for Valentine’s Day, and internationally a tad early on February 11.
