‘Tumor’: Chris Messina, Michael Peña & Esai Morales Join Sam Rockwell In L.A.-Set Psychological Thriller

Oscar-winner Sam Rockwell (“Wild Horse Nine”) and on-the-rise actress Maisy Stella (“My Old Ass”) are leading a new psychological thriller from writer/director Will Bridges (“All of You”), and the feature project titled “Tumor” (based on the graphic novel from Joshua Hale Fialkov and Noel Tuazon) has landed a trio of actors.

That new group of actors added to “Tumor,” according to a report from Deadline, includes Chris Messina (“Pressure”), Michael Peña (“The Martian”), and Esai Morales (“Ozark,” “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning”). The latter actor is playing a wealthy businessman, who sees his daughter going missing.

That’s not it, as Gigi Zumbado (“The Lincoln Lawyer”) is also named among the cast, taking a supporting part in the pic that had recently wrapped filming after a shoot in Los Angeles.

A logline for “Tumor” was mentioned in the casting update:

“Tumor” delves into the story of a low-level Los Angeles private investigator (Rockwell). When the daughter (Stella) of a wealthy businessman (Morales) goes missing, he embarks on a mission into the world of L.A.’s young, privileged elite to track her down. Wildly out of his depth and battling the debilitating symptoms of a late-stage brain tumor, his grasp on reality becomes increasingly precarious. As the unlikely duo sets out on the run, old memories blur with the present, dredging up dark secrets from his past.

Daniela Taplin Lundberg (Stay Gold Features) and Christopher Leggett (Delirio Films) will produce the feature. An executive producer team assembled consists of Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett of Ryder Picture Co, Vanessa Mendal of Stay Gold Features, Rafael Marmor of Delirio Films, Eddie Rubin, and 1846 StudiosMJ Anderson. Handling U.S. sales are UTA Independent Film Group and WME Independent, with AGC International tackling international rights in various markets. Lastly, financing and production legal for “Tumor” is being handled by 3B Law‘s Hamish Berry and Eugene Pikulin.

You may remember that Peña had recently worked with Rockwell on the sci-fi time-travel comedy “Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die” from director Gore Verbinski.
