Today, we’re able to share a new teaser trailer for Bi Gan‘s “Resurrection,” which won the Jury Special Prize at the Cannes Film Festival (was also up for the Palme d’Or) and is heading to U.S. theaters on December 12.
The acclaimed and visually stunning sci-fi thriller that is also screening at the New York Film Festival features performances provided by actors such as Jackson Yee, Shu Qi, Mark Chao, Li Gengxi, Huan Jue, and Chen Yongzhong.
Here is the official logline for the film, courtesy of U.S. distributor Janus Films:
In a world where humanity has lost the ability to dream, one creature remains entranced by the fading illusions of the dreamworld. This monster, adrift in reverie, clings to visions no one else can see—until a woman appears. Gifted with the rare power to perceive these illusions for what they truly are, she chooses to enter the monster’s dreams, determined to uncover the truth that lies hidden within.
A producing team assembled for “Resurrection” consists of Shan Zuolong, Yang Lele, Charles Gillibert, with Gan and Wan Juan set as executive producers.
The Playlist reviewed the movie during its run at Cannes earlier this year, which you can read right here. In Chase Hutchinson’s glowing review for “Resurrection,” he mentioned that, “It proves not just exhilarating and emotional as an expression of pure cinema, but a reflection of an artist who shows he’s still expanding what is possible for him going forward and cinema itself. If only we could also have a hundred years of his films.”
You can watch that brief teaser trailer for “Resurrection” below as the film heads to American theaters toward the end of the year, allowing for a perfect awards season slot.
