Adam Scott has been kicking around Hollywood for decades and is now getting his flowers thanks to the mega-popular Apple TV series “Severance,” and is set to lead “HOKUM,” a new horror film being released by the fine folks over at NEON. Thankfully, with a newly dropped trailer, we have a much better idea of what to expect from the supernatural horror film that has the appropriate creepy setting of an aging Irish inn.
Peter Coonan, David Wilmot, Florence Ordesh, Will O’Connell, Michael Patric, Siox C, Brendan Conroy, Austin Amelio, and Ezra Carlisle appear alongside Scott in the movie’s full cast line-up.

NEON has provided the following logline for the film hailing from writer/director Damian McCarthy:
When novelist Ohm Bauman retreats to a remote inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, he is consumed by tales of a witch haunting the honeymoon suite. Disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance forces him to confront dark corners of his past.
We’re getting the vibes from this new footage that “HOKUM” might be taking cues from things like “The Shining,” “Barbarian,” and maybe even a dash of “The Blair Witch Project.” That “Barbarian” connective tissue likely isn’t coming out of nowhere as Roy Lee is involved with the producing team, who produced Zach Cregger‘s twisty flick, the Oscar-nominated “Weapons,” and the director’s upcoming reboot of “Resident Evil.”
Steven Schneider, Derek Dauchy, Ruth Treacy, Julianne Forde, and Mairtín de Barra are also producing alongside Lee.
Feel free to view the new trailer for “HOKUM” below, as the buzzy horror movie is set to have its world premiere at the upcoming SXSW Film/Television Festival in Austin before heading to theaters on May 1.
