FX’s Acclaimed Series ‘The Bear’ Officially Renewed For Season 5

While we once believed that the fourth season of “The Bear” might be the swan song for the acclaimed and Emmy-winning FX series, it has been announced that a fifth season is moving forward on the Chicago-set drama.

That news included a quote from FX Chairman John Landgraf (via Deadline) that seems to reiterate FX’s commitment to the extremely popular show as the network executive lapped a heap of praise.

“‘The Bear’ continues to be a fan favorite worldwide, and their response to this season, as seen through incredibly high viewership, has been as spectacular as any of its previous seasons,” said Landgraf. “Year in and year out, Chris Storer, the producers, cast, and crew make The Bear one of the best shows on television, and we are excited that they will continue to tell this magnificent story.”

Of course, the show focuses on a rag-tag kitchen staff at a local Chicago sandwich shop that decides to push toward the world of high-end dining, leading to all sorts of tension and growing pains as the group of co-workers start to become a family with all the headaches and drama you’d expect for the hit series.

However, despite “The Bear” being one of the biggest shows at FX/Hulu, we’ve seen some mixed to negative reactions and reviews compared to previous seasons. As some fans of the show are questioning whether they’ll have enough material or energy to churn out more stories within the high-pressure world of restaurants. That said, the impressive viewership would back up that audiences are still obsessed with the program and likely will take whatever FX will give them.

Will the show manage to go beyond Season 5?

That remains to be seen, but given the wonderful group of colorful characters, no part in the series is too big or too small, which may allow for spinoffs to be considered if the main cast of Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach decide to move on to other things such as focusing on their film careers as there is a growing demand for them to join various studio projects.
