‘Elden Ring’: Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno & Emma Laird Join Alex Garland’s Fantasy Flim Coming March 2028

We were a little surprised when writer/director Alex Garland (“Civil War”) and A24 joined forces to adapt the fantasy video game “Elden Ring” into a feature film, but with the production underway, there has been a rather large update on who will be part of the cast.

A casting update hailing from The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Tom Burke (“Furiosa,” “Black Bag”), Havana Rose Liu (“No Exit”), Sonoya Mizuno (“DEVS, “Ex Machina”), and Emma Laird (“28 Years Later,” “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple”) have taken roles in the fantasy flick based on the popular video game.

If you’re not familiar with the game, “Elden Ring” is a grim mythological fantasy game with a story co-written by “Game of Thrones” creator George R. R. Martin and FromSoftware‘s Hidetaka Miyazaki, who is also behind other successful games like “Dark Souls” and “Bloodborne,” the latter getting an animated feature from Sony Pictures.

The four new additions will be joining the cast alongside Kit Connor (“Warfare”), Ben Whishaw (“Skyfall”), Cailee Spaeny (“Alien: Romulus,” “Civil War”), and Nick Offerman (“DEVS,” “Civil War”). Garland is coming off reviving the rage virus franchise with a planned “28 Years Later” trilogy, although, unclear if we’ll be seeing a follow-up to “The Bone Temple” anytime soon.

UPDATE: In an official production announcement, those new names have been confirmed alongside another batch of names that consists of Jonathan Pryce (“Game of Thrones”), Peter Serafinowciz (“John Wick 2,” “Guardians of The Galaxy”), John Hodgkinson (“Catharine The Great”) and Jefferson Hall (“Vikings”).
