While we’ll have to wait a bit longer for bigger movement on the live-action “Death Stranding” movie over at A24 helmed by Michael Sarnoski, the anime movie, also in the works, now has a teaser trailer after it dropped online, including the reveal of the working title, which is “Death Stranding Mosquito.”
Not only that, but they are reaffirming that the anime project will be heading to theaters with ABC Animation handling the production of it, although stopping short of revealing a release date. While there is certainly a feel of traditional anime in this early look at footage, it looks to be a hybrid of different animation styles, both modern and classic.
A brief blurb for the upcoming anime flick via Kojima Productions:
Directed by ABC Animation’s Hiroshi Miyamoto, written by Aaron Guzikowski (“Raised by Wolves,” “Prisoners”), “Death Stranding Mosquito” is an animated film project that will chart a bold, original story within the surreal and emotionally resonant world Hideo Kojima created.
The game’s creator, Hideo Kojima, released the “Death Stranding Mosquito” teaser trailer both through his social media and his production banner Kojima Productions’ official YouTube channel.
In the two previously released PlayStation-exclusive video games, we follow “Sam Porter Bridges (Norman Reedus), a courier who must deliver supplies to remote colonies known as Knot Cities, which make up what is left of the United States of America, now known as the United Cities of America, and reconnect them via a wireless communications network.”
We have to imagine the timing has to do with “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle” hitting a landmark total over the weekend, the Japanese anime film crossing an impressive $555 million at the global box office, and has taken the top spot domestically in the U.S./Canada for two weeks in a row.
That’s not it, as there was also a trailer released for Kojima’s mysterious upcoming horror video game “OD – Knock” that has the involvement of filmmaker Jordan Peele, with actors Hunter Schafer (“Blade Runner 2099”), Sophia Lillis, (“IT: Chapter Two”) and Udo Kier (“Blade”) appearing in the Xbox Games Studios title. This comes after his previous attempt to resurrect “Silent Hill” with the help of Guillermo del Toro and Reedus, before the game was axed during the game developer’s fallout with Konami, leading him to start his own game studio.
You can watch both those trailers below.
