‘Play Dirty’ Trailer: Shane Black Returns With New Parker Crime Pic Starring Mark Wahlberg & LaKeith Stanfield

Today, we’re proud to be able to share a new trailer for the latest Shane Black feature film, “Play Dirty,” starring Mark Wahlberg and LaKeith Stanfield, with a supporting cast featuring Rosa Salazar, Keegan-Michael Key, Chukwudi Iwuji, Nat Wolff, Thomas Jane, and Tony Shalhoub.

The new movie debuting on Prime Video is the latest iteration of the literary criminal character Parker (created by author Donald E. Westlake under the name Richard Stark), with Wahlberg inhabiting the part this time. Parker has been previously portrayed on the big screen by the likes of Lee Marvin in the iconic John Boorman film “Point Blank,” Mel Gibson in the remake “Payback,” and Jason Statham in “Parker.”

An official synopsis from Prime Video:

An expert thief rolls out the biggest heist of his life in Play Dirty, an action-packed thriller from director Shane Black. Parker (Mark Wahlberg), along with Grofield (LaKeith Stanfield), Zen (Rosa Salazar), and a skilled crew, stumble onto a score that pits them against the New York mob in this gritty, clever caper.

It has a screenplay, adapted from Westlake’s work, that was co-written by Black, Charles Mondry, and Anthony Bagarozzi, with a producing team that includes Jules Daly, Marc Toberoff, and James W. Skotchdopole, alongside executive producers such as Susan Downey, Robert Downey Jr., Mondry, and Bagarozzi.

Fans of Black’s work, I’m sure, are hoping “Play Dirty” is the next “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” or “The Nice Guys,” as the writer/director has been known for his extremely sharp wit combined with a great execution of the two-hander concept, having penned Tony Scott’s “The Last Boy Scout” and created the “Lethal Weapon” franchise helmed by Richard Donner.

You can check the trailer for Black’s “Play Dirty” below, as the new Parker movie debuts exclusively on October 1 on Prime Video.
