‘Little Amélie Or The Character Of Rain’ Trailer: Buzzy & Tender French Animated Flick In More Theaters This Week With Nationwide Expansion

Already screening in limited release, the buzzy French animated pic “Little Amélie or The Character of Rain” is getting a nationwide expansion on November 7, thanks to distributor GKIDS (previously handled the North American release of Hayao Miyazaki’s “The Boy & The Heron“), and a new trailer has made its way to us to share.

The French voice cast features the talents of Loïse Charpentier, Victoria Grobois, Laetitia Coryn, Yumi Fujimori, Marc Arnaud, and Emmylou Homs. Nidia Santiago and Edwina Liard (for Ikki Films), Claire La Combe, and Henri Magalon (for Maybe Movies) are named as part of the producing team on the pic.

This new animated feature was adapted from the autobiographical novel by Amélie Nothomb and brought to life in the completely original animated style of directors Maïlys Vallade and Liane-Cho Han, who also penned the script with Aude Py and Eddine Noël.

A synopsis for the new animated movie courtesy of GKIDS:

The world is a perplexing, peaceful mystery to Amélie until a miraculous encounter with chocolate ignites her wild sense of curiosity. As she develops a deep attachment to her family’s housekeeper, Nishio-san, Amélie discovers the wonders of nature as well as the emotional truths hidden beneath the surface of her family’s idyllic life as foreigners in post-war Japan.
