“SpongeBob SquarePants” has been a huge success for Nickelodeon since the TV show launched back in 1999, as their beloved wacky animated franchise is set to get yet another feature film romp this December with Paramount Animation‘s “The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants” taking more of a spooky tone in the film’s new trailer.
The latest animated adventure sees SpongeBob and his longtime pal Patrick embarking on a new journey across the deep blue sea as he faces off against the Flying Dutchman, an eerie, undead recurring antagonist that over the years has become a staple of the show.

Franchise regulars such as Tom Kenny as SpongeBob, Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick Star, Rodger Bumpass as Squidward Tentacles, Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs, Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy Cheeks, and Mr. Lawrence as Plankton return. We’ll also hear George Lopez, Ice Spice, Arturo Castro, Sherry Cola, and Regina Hall among the new film’s voice cast alongside Mark Hamill, who takes over the role of The Flying Dutchman from Brian Doyle-Murray (Bill Murray‘s equally funny brother), who previously inhabited the role of the ghostly pirate.
“Hotel Transylvania: Transformania” co-director Derek Drymon helms the latest animated adventure from a script penned by screenwriters Pam Brady (“Team America World Police,” the upcoming “Smurfs” movie) and Matthew Lieberman (“Free Guy”).
Below you can watch the new trailer for “The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants” as Paramount Pictures will be releasing the film on December 19, a smart holiday spot, as plenty of families are looking for entertainment options.
