We’ve been extremely curious to see what happens with Marvel Studios and Ryan Coogler‘s “Black Panther 3” after Oscar-winner Denzel Washington (“Highest 2 Lowest”) revealed a possible role in the MCU sequel, and we may have an idea when that movie could be unleashed in theaters.
In a recent New York Times profile of Coogler, his acclaimed vampire flick “Sinners” is poised to make a huge splash during awards season, the outlet adds the line that the third installment in the billion-dollar “Black Panther” franchise is “expected” to be in theaters sometime in 2028. While that notable tidbit may telegraph a potential production start in 2027, it’s unclear which month that movie will debut, as Disney has slated multiple dates in 2028 (February 18, May 5, November 10) and possibly a fourth spot on December 15, 2028.
That said, until Marvel/Disney names a date, nothing is set in stone, and fans should be well aware that most of these MCU dates tend to shift/change year to year.

Also, on the mutant front, “Deadpool & Wolverine” star Hugh Jackman recently teased during a chat with his recent “Actors On Actors” interview (via Variety) partner Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked: For Good”) when the actress asked about potentially having more gas in the tank for the mega-popular mutant antihero or reitring Logan, again.
“It doesn’t feel like the end. It really felt like the end after ‘Logan.’ Actually, I needed to claim it as the end, because I really believed in some things that I wanted that movie to be, and I had to fight for them. I had to say, ‘This is the last time I’m doing it.’ Then, when I saw “Deadpool,” I was like, ‘Oh. I see “48 Hrs.” I see Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte.’ But I would shove it down. ‘I’ve told everyone that I’m done. I’m not one of those guys.’ Then I went, ‘You know what? I [changed] my mind. It’s not that big of a deal. I’m not even gonna say I’m sorry.’ And it was so awesome,” Jackman said when asked if he was done playing the Canadian mutant.
This comes after Jackman gave us the impression he isn’t ready to hang up his claws, despite a looming “X-Men” reboot coming from director Jake Schreier (“The New Avengers”), which is said to be aiming to cast a slew of actors plugged into the youth demographic (a sign that Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige intend to do a wave of character recastings with new actors).
What this all means for the future of Deadpool and Wolverine in the MCU remains to be seen (many online folks believe Jackman’s Wolverine is showing up in “Avengers: Secret Wars” without studio confirmation), but a team-up/crossover movie like “X-Force” (“Cabin In The Woods” director Drew Goddard nearly made that feature spinoff at the end of the Foxverse era, without the possiblity of Jackman getting involved) or a gestating “Deadpool 4” could be where he might return.
