‘Lord Of The Flies’ Trailer: Netflix & ‘Adolescence’ Co-Creator Jack Thorne Reunite For Four-Part Series Based On Classic Survival Tale Coming In May

We’re still reeling from Jack Thorne‘s work on the fantastic Emmy-winning miniseries “Adolescence” (co-created by Thorne), but the writer isn’t done with tackling the world of chaotic and violent boys/young men, as he’s been tasked to turn the classic William Golding novel “Lord of the Flies” into a series for Netflix.

Arriving next month, the streaming service has dropped a trailer giving the audience a glimpse of what to expect from the project. The main gist of the story is that a group of young boys are shipwrecked on an isolated island and left to their own devices, leading them to devolve without societal norms and adults to keep them in check, leading to a power struggle and deadly consequences.

Directed by Marc Munden (shot in Malaysia) with a young cast that features Winston Sawyers as Ralph, Lox Pratt as Jack, David McKenna as Piggy, and Ike Talbut as Simon, Thomas Connor appears as Roger, Noah, and Cassius Flemyng as twins Sam and Eric, Cornelius Brandreth as Maurice, and Tom Page-Turner as Bill.

An official logline for the four-part miniseries via Netflix:

Follows a group of English schoolboys who become desert island castaways. Left to their own devices, the children attempt to handle the terrifying situation with civility until tribes form and a violent power struggle emerges.

It even has an impressive score by Hans Zimmer, Kara Talve, and Cristobal Tapia de Veer. Joel Wilson and Jamie Campbell via Eleven, Thorne for One Shoe Films, and Munden are executive producing the project alongside Sony Pictures Television.
