While speaking with Variety in a lengthy interview, the streaming giant’s movie chief Scott Stuber believes that their recent Amblin deal could be just the thing to help to lure a big whale like director Christopher Nolan, as he admits the company has had ongoing conversations with the filmmaker.

“If and when [Christopher Nolan] comes up with his new movie, it’s about can we be a home for it and what would we need to do to make that happen. He’s an incredible filmmaker. It’s been said that Nolan wants to make sure he can secure a theatrical release for his features alongside a traditional theatrical window, which means that Netflix would have to make some big changes. So, Stuber’s confidence might do him well in other facets and deals, but here it feels like a pie-in-the-sky dream to land Nolan, given that Netflix still mainly focuses on digital streaming.

We currently don’t know if Nolan has been courting other studios or even if he’s ready to start making his next feature film, but the filmmaker tends to make a new film every 2-3 years, so it would not be a surprise to know what he’s making next later this year.
