It’s been a rough go for actor Jeremy Renner as he’s still recovering from his infamous snowplow accident that nearly killed him, and he had recently revealed that in the wake he was trying to connect with Disney about returning for a second season of “Hawkeye,” but those talks broke down after Renner was insulted by their lowball salary offer.
While speaking with the fine folks over at Empire Magazine, Renner says not only does he feel physically capable about a return to the Clint Barton role and the greater MCU, but seems still keen to do “Hawkeye” season two.

“I’m always happy to be in that world, man,” Renner told Empire. “I love all those guys, I love the character. I’m sure we’ll end up doing Season 2 and do other things. And I’m happy to do it. My body’s getting ready for something like that. I don’t know if anybody wants to see me in tights, but my body will look good in the tights.”
“Absolutely. No problem,” he said when asked about being able to do the action work needed. “That’s where I’m at. I’m more than 150 per cent of what I was prior to the incident…Having health and wellness be such a central part of my life, that’s what’s gotten me back. And even as I age, I just feel stronger than I’ve been. I have some issues, and tendon issues and certain limitations of flexibility and mobility, but I spent a lot of time on getting better and stronger, and I wouldn’t if I didn’t get crushed.”
While Renner’s name was left off the “Avengers: Doomsday” casting lineup, it remains to be seen if he’ll be in the final version (there is an expectation more actors will be named later on) or will show up in something like “Avengers: Secret Wars” before his potential follow-up season of “Hawkeye” (Renner alludes to that still being on the table).
Another reason we expect to see a renewed interest in a new run of “Hawkeye” episodes is that Renner’s co-star, Hailee Steinfeld, has gotten a lot of attention for her performance in Ryan Coogler‘s hit vampire flick “Sinners.”
Maybe, Barton could find his way into new episodes of “Daredevil: Born Again,” given he spent most of season one of “Hawkeye” in New York as well, and the show featured Vincent D’Onofrio‘s Wilson Fisk. Only time will tell.
