While there were plenty of character returns from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” in the two seasons of Tony Gilroy‘s acclaimed Disney+ series, “Andor,” actor Riz Ahmed is finally commenting on his Imperial pilot turned rebel not showing up, and he seems to understand it might have tempted fate to do so.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter for an interview to help promote his new movie “Relay,” directed by David Mackenzie, Ahmed shared his feelings that Bodhi Rook missed out on an appearance and joked about getting the “Star Wars” character his own standalone movie as a consolation prize when talking to Gilroy about it.
“I actually brought this up with Tony, jokingly. I was like, ‘Does that mean I’m getting a Bodhi Rook standalone movie [instead]?'” Ahmed recalled mid-laugh while speaking to THR. “But he’s got such an intricate way of plotting things, and he felt that bringing my character in would mess with timelines and the way he’d plotted lots of stuff through. But as a fan, I think ‘Andor’ is kind of perfect, so I wouldn’t mess with it or have it any other way.”
Some of those returners from “Rogue One” that showed up alongside Diego Luna included Genevieve O’Reilly, Forest Whitaker, Ben Mendelsohn, Duncan Pow, and Alan Tudyk.
He’s not the only established “Star Wars” actor feeling FOMO, real or not, as Ewan McGregor recently mused during FanExpo Canada he wants to convince Disney/Lucasfilm to do a third season of “Andor” to allow Obi-Wan Kenobi to show up in that (serious or not, we’re likely not getting any more “Andor” or Gilroy exploring this universe, again).
On the live-action front concerning “Star Wars,” movies like Jon Favreau‘s “The Mandalorian & Grogu” (wrapped) and Shawn Levy‘s “Star Wars: Starfighter” led by Ryan Gosling (currently shooting) are heading to theaters in the near future, with series like Dave Filoni‘s “Ahsoka” getting a second season and more Mando on streaming expected, too.
